The Mask

Image source: http://magpietales.blogspot.in

You have slashed away my wings
I used to be a free bird that sings.
I came down crashing to the ground
My life changed soon in a bound.

There was no more freedom
Yet, I made the ground my kingdom
I brought my own sunshine
I thought my life was again mine.

Your pleasure was not satisfied yet
The more you got, the more you wanted to get
So they tore my body apart
Ruthless men had no heart!

A thing of beauty is joy forever
Beauty is only for respect and savour
People thought so once upon a time
Now every woman is a victim of crime.

Today I am left with only a face
Shame to mankind that lacks grace!
I am the modern woman with a mask
Every woman wears it, if you ask!

@Sandra
Yup. And there is never absolute freedom.

@Kalpana Solsi
Thank you.

@Gemma Wiseman
Oh, thanks. Heard this quote? - "Wherever you go, bring your own sunshine."

@Kutaman
I'm not sure I understood your comment completely.
